Training on Youth Volunteerism in Peace Building for Youth Peace Agents in Shashamanne

Center for Development and Capacity Building has organized a four-day training under the title ‘Peace Building and Community Service’ With the support of USAID /OTI/Dexis. The training is underway at Hamilton hotel in Shashamanne from January 11 -14, 2021 for 15 youth volunteers. These volunteers were recruited from Shashamanne town and surrounding in cooperation with the town administration.
The volunteers are expected to advocate peace, social cohesion, undertake community care and support services, and other voluntary activities for the coming three months in the town.

To this end, the training covers major topics like Personal development and self-esteem, the concept of volunteerism, understanding Peace and Conflict, Non-violent communication, Community Visioning, and Planning. The training also intends to equip volunteer youth peace agents with the skill of community mobilization, conversation, and implementing community projects.

The trainers and facilitator have used different exercising mechanisms, theories, and motivating tactics which made the session highly participatory. Following this session other two sessions will be held at Arsi Nagelle and Batu Towns consecutively in the coming two weeks.
