Capacity Building Training provided to Government Sector Offices

Capacity building training was provided to Zone level officials and experts of sector offices of 2 Districts, Moyale and Miyo, of Borana Zone. The one day training was provided at Yabello Town on May 21, 2024.
The aim of the training centers around equipping participants with the needed capacity in their service delivery in such a way that they are accessible to customer community members; responsive to their demands; and they should be conflict sensitive to prevent developments that may lead to antagonism and eventual violence unless tackled early. The capacity building training started at the District level that has now reached the Zone.

The CDG Support IDPs under IPDHE Project

The CDG in partnership with VSO–Ethiopia and Austrian Development Agency (ADA) provided support to the IDPs in Dambi Chame locality of Moyale District in Borana Zone trough the project, “Integrating Peace Development and Humanitarian Effort (IPDHE)”. The IPDHE included crises modifier scheme in which it is now supporting IDPs (Internally Displaced People) who sheltered away from their homestead.

Online Advocacy project review under way

Workshop organized by CDG in collaboration with NED on Online Youth Community for Peace and Democracy in Oromia is under way at Elilli International Hotel. Participants of the workshop are mainly the youth who are largely Social Media Influencers havING been active during the project implementation. In addition, there are representatives of Oromia Regional Government relevant offices who are at the forefront in connection to issues of Human Rights, Rule of Law, Good Governance and Peace. On the part of the Donor Partner, NED (National Endowment for Democracy), Mrs. Natalie Cooke, Program Officer, was involved in the workshop.

CDG – VSO – HODI Miyo- Sololo Cross Border Peace Committee established

The Center for Development and Governance (CDG) in collaboration with Overseas Volunteers Organization (VSO) played a major role in the establishment of Miyo – Slolo Cross Border Peace Committee on March 6, 2024. Again, the CDG and its counterparts, HODI, from Kenya facilitated the joint meeting for the establishment of this Ethio – Kenya Cross Border Peace Committee at Moyale Ethiopia (Koket Hotel).
Participants from Miyo and Sololo Districts, observers from the local government offices, Moyale – Moyale Cross Border Committee members and others that make up a total of 36 were involved in the establishment meeting. The objective of the project, “Integrating Peace Building Development and Humanitarian Effort- (IPDHE) already under implementation is to support establishment and the sustainable functioning of cross border joint peace committee. The project also aims to strengthen capability of the cross-border communities in conflict management, peace and resilience building.

CDG-VSO-HODI- IPDHE-Communities discuss current crises to recommend feasible action points

The CDG, VSO, key stakeholders and members of the target communities who live in Moyale and Miyo Districts of Borana Zone discussed issues of their common concern in a two day (28 – 29 February 2024) meeting. Initially, the participants were updated about implementation status of the project, Integrating Peace Development and Humanitarian Effort (IPDHE). Briefing was given about project objectives; implementation mechanism; and the expected outcomes.
