The Centre for Development and Governance (CDG) conducted a baseline assessment on Water and Natural Resource Management Committees (WNRMCs) in ten target kebeles of Miyo and Moyale districts of Borena Zone. The assessment done as part of the RECAP Project was aimed to strengthen existing committees and facilitate the establishment of new ones in kebeles where such structures did not exist thereby enhancing community institutions responsible for sustainable water and natural resource governance.

Center for Development and Governance (CDG) organized a workshop to discuss the role of traditional values in restoring peace and social harmony as well as promoting and protecting human rights, the rule of law, and good governance. The event is underway today at the Miran Grand Hotel in Bishoftu City. Three selected custodians of the Oromo tradition offered a devotional prayer before the program began, reciting blessings for the success of the deliberation by the will of the Almighty.

The Center for Development and Governance (CDG) conducted consultative workshop among the cross border communities of Miyo District of Ethiopia and Sololo County of Kenya on May2, 2026 in Miyo Town. The consultative meeting brought together fourteen (14) community representatives and government officials in Miyo-Sololo corridor to discuss Natural Resource Management challenges; identify root causes of the challenges; and seek solutions. From the Kenyan side the chief from Anona, CBRMCs and other key sector leaders and from Ethiopia the District Busa Gonofa and Agriculture office representatives attended the consultative meeting.

CDG in collaboration with VSO –Ethiopia launched a project titled “Resilience Borders: Enhancing Peace, Climate Adaptation, Livelihood, and Preparedness – RECAP” to be implemented among communities in the Ethiopia – Kenyan Border.
The project provides opportunity to the National and Community Volunteers in the facilitation of community engagement during the project activity implementation.

The CDG conducted launching of a project titled “Fruit Trees for Mitigation of Climate Change Impacts in the Semi-Urban Areas of Shaggar City” in Kura – Jidda Sub City of Shaggar City. The launching was attended by Administrator of the Sub City, Agriculture Experts, Horticulture Expert, and other various sectors representatives.

The launching of Project titled “RECAP” fully stated as ‘Resilient Border: Advancing Climate Adaptation, Peace, Livelihoods, and Preparedness in Cross-border Communities of Ethiopia and Kenya was conducted in Yaballo Town on April 27, 2026. It is a cross border Project that involves the CDG and VSO-Ethiopia on Ethiopian side and HODI and VSO-Kenya on the Kenyan side that are implementation partners. The funding partner is International Partnerships Austria. The implementing partners and relevant government officials gathered for the launching at Nigat Hotel in Yaballo.

The project identified as “Advancing Climate Adaptation, Peace, Livelihoods, and Preparedness in Cross-Border Communities of Ethiopia and Kenya” (RECAP) was launched in Moyale, Kenya on March 25, 2026. Representatives of implementing partners, relevant government offices of Mersabit County and two sub Counties (Moyale and Sololo) from Kenya and government representative from Moyale and Miyo districts of Ethiopia participated in the inauguration. During the session overview of the project was presented by the RECAP project lead and VSO -Ethiopia country representative. Discussion was held on implementation project objectives, approaches and collaboration. At the end of the inauguration session the participants expressed their commitment to the successful implementation of the project during the plan.
