
A project aimed at Protecting Lake Dambel (Ziway) through a concerted effort of local actor is under implementation by CDCB with the financial support from UNDP-Global Environment Facility – Small Grant Program.The project’s key stakeholders are the Local community represented by the leadership and members of the “Association to Save Lake Damabl”, from local leadership various sector heads and head of Batu town mayor office, from Oromia region, Regional Bureau leadership were also present. More than 5 major private companies’ and CSO representatives also attended the consultative workshop.The main agenda of the workshop was how to enhance the capacity of the local community in general and the “Association to Save Lake Damabl” in particular to take the leading role in protecting the Lake from degradation. In this effort, the two key stakeholders (Local government and private companies) agreed to play their responsibility in enhancing the capacity of the association and the local community so that they can play the pivotal role in saving the Lake. Participants also agreed on the importance of continuous and regular dialogues among local stakeholders that was planned to be organized by CDCB.
