Third Round of deliberation on the role of Digital Advocacy for Peace under way

The third round of deliberation on the role of Social Media on issues of restoration of peace as organized by Center for Development and Governance is under way at Elilli International Hotel today (January18, 2024). The deliberation covers the topic presented during the previous two rounds “Sub Regional Dialogues on the Challenges of Conflict and its Impact on Human Rights, Rule of Law and Good Governance vis-à-vis the Way out”.
During the opening session, Mr. Amanuel Adnew, Executive Director of the CDG introduced the discussion program to the participants. He noted that the discussion focuses on the concepts of Human Rights, Rule of Law and Good Governance that are the pillar for lasting peace and sustainable development. He indicated that CDG took the Social Media advocacy relatively recently considering its impact to create awareness about the need for the restoration of peace in Oromia Region and the country as a whole.
Among the several partners of CDG that collaborate on raising awareness of the public among others on the issues of rights being Oromia Communication Bureau of Oromia.
The points of discussion on Human Rights, Rule of Law and Good Governance was being presented by Mr. Eshetu Yadeta, a professional at Law (Judge with Supreme Court of Ormia). Initially he gave the definition and concept of Human Rights in such a way that the interaction with the participants is participatory for a better understanding.
Participants of the program were drawn from different spheres like academics, government offices, SM influencers and others who have the opportunity to create influence on rights and peace issues. The program is expected to devise mechanisms to create impact on restoration of peace in Oromia Region in particular and the county in general. In addition, the Social Media influencers participating in the dialogue could give their reflections on the contents of presentations and discussions, which they may share online with their friends and followers during the session dedicated to collection of opinions on how to give leverage to the Online Advocacy.
