The Center for Development and Governance formerly CDCB organized discussion at Elilli International Hotel on (January 2, 2024) on the role of Social Media (SM) for the restoration of peace in Oromia Region. This discussion was a continuation of online campaign targeting youth volunteers who have been part of the activity that gained momentum recently.
The initiative of creating online youth community emanates from recognition of the role of Social Media towards restoration of peace in Oromia Region and the country at large. It is part of an effort of creating impact to minimize hostile tendency over the SM which could exasperate violence.

Center for Development and Capacity Building concludes Lake Danbal Rehabilitation Project (Baraara Hara Danbal) after four years of implementation activities conducted in two phases of two years each. The closeout of the project was announced by the project implementation focal person, Mr. Gedeon Megersa, today at half a day gathering of stakeholders held at Elilly Hotel.

Human Rights (HR) issues are among priorities of the Center for Development and Capacity Building ever since its establishment. To this effect, the Center has established ‘online youth community’ in order to effectively make use of the social media for HR, Peace and Good Governance promotion. We have designated April 2023 as the month of the social media (Facebook) engagement to promote HR and increasing youth followers to have more impact. The engagement includes competition/challenges, information updates and consultative workshops. This workshop is part of reaching wider stakeholders to build consensus among key stakeholder leadership and the youth so that HR promotion and protection issues gain the concerted efforts of the broader range of societies.
